Melittology VG86 (FF score!) – Sold S. Rodriguez

Tolly @ 1yr 5mos

Tolly is a doe I really am excited about. I chose an outcross for her that worked very well! She is an improvement over her dam and at her LA as a yearling with the highest score possible being an 89 she, scored VVVV86. She was a growthy kid just like her dam and freshened as a yearling with twins easily. She has very nice spring of rib, is flat boned and very dairy but still stays in good condition without having to modify her feeding regimen. Easy keepers are my favorite!!! Tolly was shown in 3 rings in 2021 and placed second in her class in all 3. She is one to watch for sure. If you’re looking for a total performance nigerian dwarf, Tolly is a great one!

When I met Val over at Gillispie’s County Line Farm I was immediately impressed by the quality of her herd.  I had been looking high and low for the traits her goats possessed; drove hours to get  others and she was practically next door, unbeknownst to me at the time.  SMH….so goes life.  Valerie did a really amazing job with selecting dairy traits that continually pass on generation after generation.   Additionally, she has been a wonderful mentor and friend.  I can’t say there’s many folks out there who will talk goats with me all day, but she is certainly one of them.  She has since sold her dairy herd due to the time demands of a budding family but I am so so grateful for the genetics she has trusted us with.  These girls have truly been total performers in every sense.

1xGCH -2017 (restricted leg)

I unabashedly follow about a hundred (give or take) goat breeder’s pages on Facebook.  One morning I was scrolling through and saw a post for a stunning doe, in milk, with one of her legs toward champion status, posted for sale.  I had to text Josh (hubby) because Lord only knows how much I’ve spent on our girls and just knew my limits.  He did a double take at her price tag, contemplated, and before he even had a chance to answer she had sold.

Fast forward a week and I received a text from her breeder that the sale had fallen through.  I asked Josh again and he said “Happy MothersBirthMas”!!!  I do LOVE that man.  We picked her up the following week and she has been nothing short of a joy to have here on the homestead.

This sweet girl shows so much promise in both the show ring and the milk pail.  She has met production requirements for her 2*M and is on track for Advanced Registry!!  Hope’s pedigree is FULL of some amazing genetics and I am really excited to retain a daughter from her.

Hope is going to help us do some pretty amazing things around here!
